Organisation Details

The Millan Centre is a community hub exclusively dedicated to empowering women and girls in Bradford’s Manningham and Heaton areas. They provide a safe and accessible environment for educational, social, and health-related activities. With a focus on equal opportunities and diversity, the centre offers a varied program that stimulates personal growth and fosters active citizenship. Courses and groups cater to women over 19 years old, while girls under 18 can participate with parental consent. Through grants and partnerships, the Millan Centre remains an independent resource, offering sewing classes, ESOL, life skills, digital skills, and more.

Project Details

The Millan Centre is in desperate need of redecorating after years of neglect. It would also benefit from a garden clean up. The rooms to be redecorated are:

● Small office
● Hallways
● Clear Garden/Growing area
● Repaint timber structures

The above is a simplified process we will use on the day.

On the day Participate will be providing a member of staff to support the volunteers. A trained first aider and first aid kit will be available during the challenge. A tools talk and health and safety briefing will be given by Participate at the beginning of the day.

Volunteers will be undertaking painting activities and are required to wear old and reasonably robust clothing that you will not mind getting paint on.
