Organisation Details
Autism Bricks (part of Specialist Autism Services) is a registered non-profit organisation and social enterprise that currently supports adults on the autism spectrum through the provision of LEGO ® based activities. They focus on LEGO ®-based therapy, a unique way of helping individuals with autism to develop their social and communication skills. Work experience opportunities are also created for its members who benefit from selling the models they create to the public.
Overseen by Martin Burgess, he is looking to expand and open up their services to young people and kids with autism, as well as give those on low incomes access to their large range of LEGO ® products. In pursuit of this, he will be opening an Autism Bricks Café in Bingley open to the public and families as well as hosting autism-specific groups for either kids or adults.
Project Details
Social Media Marketing:
Martin takes care of all Autism Bricks UK social media pages himself, which includes Instagram and Facebook. Although Martin has a background in graphic design, he is unsure if his methods are as effective as they could be. Due to this, Martin is looking to advance his skills within this field to build engagement on social media platforms. This is so he can raise as much awareness as possible and amplify the reach of their services. As a general framework, support is needed for the following:
• Creating a marketing strategy
• Increasing Social Media engagement and reach
• Developing new marketing content
• Engaging with media
Staff Development Training:
As Autism Bricks is opening its new café, they will be taking on new staff and volunteers to add to their team. The café will be fully functional and staff working in the café will need food hygiene training. Training in other relevant areas for staff and volunteers would also be welcomed, such as safeguarding children and adults. Support needed:
• Delivery/ provision of food hygiene training for café staff
• Delivery/ provision of any other relevant training including safeguarding
Number of volunteers
We are open to working with a wide range of volunteers who are able to help us with the two projects above.
