During the Covid-19 crisis Bradford Council approached Participate to complete a review of the capacity and capability of essential voluntary sector Anchor Organisations across Bradford District.

We conducted detailed analysis of each organisation; which provided them with a basis for business planning and strategy. 14 individual organisations were reviewed, which resulted in us writing an overarching report of the short and longer term health of the sector.

We worked alongside organisations staff and board members to deliver:

  • Heat Map diagnostic – assessed organisations using 74 key indicators to produce a visual and descriptive map of the health of organisations.
  • An evaluation of diagnostic information and financial reporting to establish issues of critical concern and potential capacity / capability gaps that could be addressed by the organisation or might need external support.

From our assessments, Participate completed an Organisational health report for each organisation; these highlighted areas of concern and prioritised actions or recommendations. An aggregated report was provided tio Bradford Council so that they could look at support needs within the sector at a time when many organisations were facing unprecedented challenges.

Organisations were able to implement recommendations on governance, purpose, leadership, resilience, resources, effectiveness and relationships as a result of the project.
