The Venturists is a Youth Social Action initiative – building young people’s confidence and skills; so they take a leading role in developing the communities of the future.

The Venturists Airship

The Venturists is designed for schools, colleges and community settings and gives young people the opportunity to start viable social enterprises and ideas.

The project enables young people to understand and explore issues in their community and what they might do to help.

Inspirational talks, trips, workshops and visits from local businesses, charities and community organisations help the young people to plan their own projects. The young people then access the tools and resources to bring their idea to life; going on to deliver a project that makes a real impact.

Each Venturists programme is developed in collaboration with the host organisation, enabling us to focus on specific areas of interest and deliver the best possible outcomes and impact for their young people.

FAQs

What is youth social action?2024-05-23T13:40:47+01:00

Its positive, practical action that young people take to make a difference for others, their community or the environment.

Why should schools engage with the community?2024-05-23T13:41:51+01:00

Through engaging with the community, schools can make the best use of their local assets. Utilising the local skills and businesses and community organisation in school settings can extend and enrich learning opportunities and positively influence young people.

Who is the project aimed at?2024-05-23T13:42:23+01:00

Most of our work is with years 5 and 6 of primary school and 7 and 8 in high school. Everything is designed bespoke for your setting – we have previously delivered projects the focus on STEM, Arts, Maths & Creative Writing. If you have an idea for something, get in touch!

How much does it cost?2024-05-23T13:42:51+01:00

Because everything we do is bespoke, there is no set price to deliver a programme. We often have funding, which means we can match fund projects and sometimes fully fund them.

What types of projects do the young people come up with?2024-05-23T13:55:03+01:00

The young people continue to amaze us with their ideas – here are a few projects they have delivered:

  • A greenhouse and playground made from recycled materials
  • Wellbeing packs, soup and recycled ‘crisp packet’ blankets for homeless people
  • Creating craft bags for children in hospital
  • A food bank and social super market within a school setting
  • A ‘Casserole Club’ for families cooking on a budget
  • Planting an orchard that gifts fruit to people living in poverty
