Breaking down barriers in sport – Taking an idea from local to global.

IMAS emerged from the wish of a student from Bradford with Cerebral Palsy to play full contact rugby. His tutors, Mark and Martino, built IMAS around this ambition, getting people to play mixed ability rugby, where people with barriers to mainstream sport, and people of all abilities, play with limited adaptation of the sport.

They needed support to start their idea and also with enterprise skills, funding and linking to further support and networks.

What we did..

  • Secured small scale start-up fund via our partners Unltd
  • Established their Community Interest Company
  • Provided mentoring and information
  • Social Venture School
  • Support with fundraising, crowdfunding and corporate engagement

IMAS have now completed 4 world tournaments and Mixed Ability has spread to more than a dozen countries. They have established partnerships with England Rugby, Sport England, Premiership Rugby and Department of culture media and sport, and have expanded into a wide range of sports including boxing, rowing and tennis.
